Tom Kondra

tomTom started playing the drums at the age of 10 after being mesmerized by legendary big band and rock drummers of the time. He studied under drum master Carl Wolf and, shortly after the birth of Beatlemania, formed his first band, The Jades. Styled after the look and sound of the British invasion, The Jades had much success in the NJ and NY area with live performances, TV spots on the Zacherley Show and FM radio airplay of their original music. Shortly after attending the original Woodstock concert, Tom was asked to join The Eighth Day, an eight-piece horn based band managed by the famous Joey Dee of the Starlighters. The Eighth Day recorded at Capitol Records in NY and also at the legendary Les Paul studio. With Les Paul Jr. as their recording engineer, the Eighth Day had attracted the interest of Polydor Records among others. Throughout 80’s and 90’s Tom played with such great bands as Shadowfax, Time Piece, New Sensation, The Jokers Wild, Uncle Rico and Bad Kitty. His drumming influences include Neil Peart, Bill Bruford, Carl Palmer, Danny Seraphine, Ringo Starr, Steve Smith, Dino Danelli, Kenny Aronoff , Stewart Copeland, and many more. Besides being a seasoned drummer, Tom is also a great vocalist. His pleasure and joy is singing and drumming with the awesome Superphonic band!
